Roadtrip: Pitchfork Festival 2010
Pitchfork announced the lineup for their annual music festival held in Chicago. They’ve only announced a handful of bands, but so far the lineup is awesome. Pavement, LCD Soundsystem, Modest Mouse, plus more. Once the lineup fills out, it’ll get even better. Also, props to Pitchfork for planning a great festival at an affordable price. Tickets went on sale today. A one day pass only costs $40 while a three day pass costs $90. Not a bad deal. Tickets can be found HERE.

Dawes to play Johnny Brendas in a few weeks

Californian band Dawes, formally known as Simon Dawes, will play Johnny Brendas on Wednesday, February 24th. The band dropped “Simon” from their name because one of the founding members, whose middle name was Simon, left the band. Not only did they change their name, they also changed their style of music. Dawes are a straight up folk band, who really capture that signature Californian folk sound. They released their debut album, North Hills, back in September via ATO Records. Check it out if you get a chance. Also, if you sign up for their mailing list, they’ll give you their single “When My Time Comes” for FREE.
Tickets for the show can be found HERE. (It’s only 10 bucks!)
Jay Reatard’s cause of death revealed
According to The Commercial Appeal located in Memphis, TN, punk rocker Jay Reatard died of “cocaine toxicity, and that alcohol was a contributing factor in his death.” It’s a bummer to hear that he succumbed to drugs and alcohol. We’ve lost another great to substance abuse. RIP Jay Reatard.
