Tuesday’s Agenda
What’s on the agenda for Tuesday?
- Islands, Jemina Pearl, Toro Y Moi at the First Unitarian Church – 8 PM – $13
- The Very Best, Javelin at Johnny Brendas (21+) – 9 PM – $10
- Fuck Buttons, Growing at Kung-Fu Necktie (21+) – 8 PM – 10
All three shows offer a different style of music. It all depends on what you’re feeling tonight.

The English experimental duo Fuck Buttons just released their second record , Tarot Sport, which received a 9.0 from the oh-so-mighty Pitchfork. They will play with Growing, who are known to play straight through their set without a word to the crowd. It will definitely be an interesting show to see live.
Nick Diamonds and Richard Thompson recently reunited as Islands to make a new record entitled, Vapours. They haven’t made an album together since 2006′s Return to the Sea. Diamonds did release a record under Islands called Arm’s Way but it did not received very good reviews from critics. However, Vapours is quite the opposite. Nashville turned Brooklyn chick Jemina Pearl(lead singer of Be Your Own Pet) and the up-and-coming Toro Y Moi will be the opening acts.

The Very Best, an Afro-pop band comprised of the European producer duo, Radioclit, and a Malawi born singer, Esau Mwamwaya. They just released Warm Heart Of Africa on NYC-based Green Owl Records, which features appearances from Ezra Koenig(of Vampire Weekend) and remakes of MIA. It’s also receiving rave reviews from Pitchfork and Rolling Stone. If you don’t know what Afro-pop sounds like, check their tunes here. Javelin will open the show.
