Port St. Willow & Peter(from the Antlers) @ Weathervane’s Private Event 04/15/2011 (photos)
Port St. Willow aka Nick Principe(left) along with assistance from his childhood friend Peter Silberman of The Antlers played Weathervane’s private fundraiser show last night at Miner Street Studios in Fishtown and in all honesty, there are no words to describe how fantastic it was. Everything about last night’s event was truly out of this world– the company, the food, the beer, the setting, the music.
It was held in a large, open loft studio on the second floor of an old Fishtown building. Everyone sat on the floor as the two guys performed a handful of songs written by Port St. Willow. His angelic voice was comparable to Jeff Buckley‘s and his guitar work was very pretty and atmospheric. I found myself at times just closing my eyes and floating away because of the music. Peter filled out the sound with spacey, effect driven guitar and at one point, he held down a percussion beat with his guitar and pedals.
Luckily for all of us, there were several video cameras in the audience to capture the entire event. It’ll be released on May 7th over at Weathervane’s website. When it goes up, I’ll be sure to share it with all of you. In the mean time, check out Weathervane’s video of Port St Willow that was released as part of their Shaking Through series. Also check out his music over at his bandcamp.
